I really enjoyed reading everyone's poetry, especially yours Bob. Who was the dang fool who ran you out of the competition? Congratulations to all of the writers for pushing themselves, maybe into a different field.

I'll PM E-man.

Thanks Mac. I too enjoy reading everyone's poetry. I can't understand poetry written by real poets. So it's good to get us amateurs writing about a subject we are interested in.

To answer your question, Mac, I was not in the contest. Reminds me when I was entered in an indoor car show. The judges came over with their clip boards and started looking the car over. Trying to figure how many "points" to give me for this and that. After a few frustrating minutes I suggested they not waste their time but instead move on to a real show car. I told them just mark down, "Not in Competition". I still got a, "Thanks for Coming" trophy.

You know, people, if the spirit moves you, you can always unleash your creative writing skills on this thread.

I agree with you Bob, the expensive poetry goes right over my head. Our poetry is cool.
I was just poking at you Bob. You did the gentlemanly thing, as host you stepped aside. It was a crying shame, though, that you and Dr. C. weren't in the competition.
Thank you both for arranging this and pulling it off.

I forgot, Doctor C, gets 5 "atta boys" and at least a half dozen "kudos" for setting up the poll. He certainly did the noble thing withdrawing from the contest so there would be a suitable number for the poll.

Thank you, Doc.

Default The Hot Rod Show

The Hot Rod Show

The autumn sun brightly shown.
On the paint and stainless and chrome.
At the car show at the Old Folks Home.

Hot rods, customs, classics of every flavor.
Were lined up there for the residents to savor.

The old folks enjoyed, there were lots of reminisces.
Some people even shared their hugs and kisses.

As they recalled their early years.
I saw lots of smiles and a few tears.

My grandson was there with my old Forty.
He doesn't like it but his nickname is Shorty.

We sat by the car and had a great time.
Not long ago I was driving just fine.

But life caught up and I started to slow.
Shorty had to drive it to the Hot Rod show.

The sun was fading it was getting late.
Shorty was leaving he had a hot date.

I smiled a sad smile as the nurse wheeled my chair.
The staff is nice here, they really do care.

"Could you please turn my chair, if you might.
So I can watch the Forty's taillights as it goes out of sight".
